the nieces said she is a wolf woman. i had a body for her... a rose print dress, an apron with little pockets. but i got the feeling she didn't want it. so i'll let her just stay in her head for now.
nothin like a little heat to get me off my behind. of course like last class, the end of it caught me unawares. time is a blur for me. never have been able to keep track. i got to read the other's posts here and there, but i was never really able to get into it like i'd intended. i know i missed out on some great and valuable conversations/teaching.
i believe this grass faerie's name is graciela (a form of grace?), at least that's what she told me... but i think it's more like grassiela.
i knew she was a grass faerie as soon as i realized what the wings and face were going to be cut out from, but i did not know what she was going to look like. she surprised me.
on the home front, middle son is back. he got kicked out of treatment a couple of days ago.
haven't been able to do much for the beast class and these aren't ironed, but...
i did the butterfly early in the morning with no pattern. i cut and stitched it by feel and hand. it is very wonky.
on the time cloth i've done some quilting on the bottom part. i've started feeling it in a more personal way. i noticed some parts have changed from what i originally saw them to be. i realized to let them be as they wanted. i removed a section since it didn't seem to fit, which was good.
right now as i type this, i am interrupted at least every 5 or 6 words typed. sick niece at foot of my bed and my LOUD family has boundary issues... hahahahha
it's been like this for the past several weeks. a hermit either a) wants to escape b) wish all this didn't bother me c) have a beer many beers
did not get to finish embellish for the spirit cloth class. it makes me very sad. but i had to let something go or i was going to self-destruct.
i was just able to start looking at posts at the class and man, what everyone's done is AMAZING. to see the way everything has progressed for everyone. the process of the mind is just boggling and beautiful. i really REALLY appreciate being able to be a part of everyone's process that shared.
i will be continuing the learning here and i will also be in the patchwork beasts starting tomorrow.
i made these last week, but did not get the chance to post them. little foundations for the spirit cloth workshop i'm participating in. random scraps from one of my cloth bags.
the non-blue one, i made it countrified... inspired by traci :)
everything was blurry and i couldn't get a grasp on a lot of things.
so i retreated. now that i've re-emerged i found that it coincided with the :three: days of the dark/new moon. funny. again.
i used to keep regular track of :her: cycles, but somehow i've lost the time.
i worked on a couple of things that have been lying beside me. mr. depp catt has a new hat. i added some things to the moon, but ripped them out... the color tones didn't match. she now has tiny whisper holes and colors.
the cloth to cloth class is ending. i'm going to miss having the opportunity to participate in that little spot. through it i learned so many things. and most suprisingly i learned a lot about myself and relating. looking back it feels like it was a group growing effort. i had a time of feeling uncomfortable, but i am happy i pushed through :my: issues and i've expanded understanding because of it.
spirit cloth class starts tuesday and from all the work examples already posted, i am surely out of my league. these women are wonderful talented artists. a new learning experience is in the slots and i'm excited.
oh and grace (if you happen by)... i'm sorry but son has not been able to mail off the cushion yet. he had an unexpected busy workweek, but he tells me he is going on monday to ship it off. so :fingers crossed: hopefully it will be there by thursday or friday. i hope cushion gets lots of wear and tear! i think she'll be happy. :)
a door opened up while reading posts at the class blog this morning.
so many of my thoughts over the past days have intersected with the thoughts and works over there. dealing with expression, truth, one's own work...
the words i read over there hit right at the center of me. i think they are the key to this rough journey i've been on. a piece i have just not been able to figure out keep forgetting to keep close to me.
came across this song today. second time i've been feeling :funky: and i've heard this song on the tv. memories coming to meet me...

You say the hill's too steep to climb, Climb it! You say you'd like to see me try, Climb it! You pick the place and I'll choose the time And I'll climb The hill in my own way Just wait a while, for the right day And as I rise above the treeline and the clouds I look down hear the sound of the things you said today Fearlessly the idiot faced the crowd, smiling Merciless, the magistrate turns 'round, frowning And who's the fool who wears the crown Go down in your own way And everyday is the right day And as you rise above the fearlines in the frown You look down Hear the sound of the faces in the crowd
been sick... still am, but at least i'm not flat on my back.
haven't been doing ANYthing cloth related. it was taking all my strength to keep the grands from clobbering each other. i vowed this weekend to get back to it though. ripped up some strips and got to work night before last.
i'm trying to get caught up on all the methods at class. the tapestry, the double weave, cut out and mask... check check check. i think that's all of them.
i am going to use all these methods more extensively in the HOME comforter work. i just wanted to try em' out to get a feel for them.
'when granny would come, she'd make us sugar cookies. she'd tell me and your uncle to get under her quilt stretched out between the chairs. she'd place a plate of those cookies down there and tell us to watch where she'd send the needle down, and for us to poke it back up right next to where she'd sent it down from.' -my dad
about me
i'm the head misfit of the little hearts. i love to sew. i love the :magically: made vs. the man made. classic underachiever with all the -ics, -ions and -esses... i like the feel of things. sometimes i drift to other planes. the way i appear here is all that :matter:s here, so i (guess i) should be here.
